Our method
How listings are rated
Short version: we don't invent ratings, and we say plainly when a write-up is thin instead of padding it out.
Where the ratings come from
Every star rating and review count on this site is pulled directly from Google — the same reviews you'd see searching the vendor's name yourself. We don't run our own review system, and we don't average, weight, or adjust what Google shows. If a listing has no rating yet, we show it as unrated rather than guessing.
How we write listing descriptions
We follow a simple rule: start from what's actually verifiable — name, category, city, rating, review count. Where a vendor's own website or Google Business listing has real description text, we draw on that. Then we rewrite it in our own voice. What we don't do is invent specifics that aren't backed by a source — no made-up awards, no invented "10 years in business," no imagined specialties.
Some listings get a fuller, researched write-up — pricing signals, pros and cons, a look at real past work. We're rolling those out gradually, starting with the vendors we've actually looked into closely. Most listings today are still on the shorter, honest version while that work continues.
Sponsored and featured listings
We don't take a commission on bookings, and listing your business here is free. If we ever introduce paid placement, sponsored or featured listings will always be clearly labeled as such — never blended in as if they were an organic, highly-rated result. See our advertising & editorial policy for more detail.
Getting something fixed
If you're a vendor and something on your listing is wrong or out of date, or a couple who spotted an error, let us know — we'll get it corrected.
